Beautiful LARGE Victorian SOLID Silver Keepsake LOCKET with HAIR Pendant & Chain. WELCOME TO CLASSIQUE JEWELLERY! You are previewing a wonderfully simple, yet still beautiful, solid silver locket from the late 19th Century, c. There are no Hallmarks or stamps that I can find but it has been fully and independently tested to Sterling purity solid silver. It is a large PLAIN locket, polished to both sides, having no decoration. It measures 3.6 cms, 4.8 cms including the bale, by 2.9 cms. It weighs a HEAVY and substantial 13.31 grams, 17.9 grams including the chain. This beauty opens to reveal its real treasure, an all original interior with fittings and glass panels housing sections or woven hair, gold braid and seed pearls. This is almost certainly a LOVE locket and not a memorial piece, to my mind. Of course, this can be used to house keepsakes, photographs, portraits or whatever of your own choosing. It is fitted on a vintage, but much later, Sterling silver chain of inches length that compliments this fine locket well. It is in a good condition, considering that it probably around 140 years old. The hinge and clasp are secure and solid and the interior glass and fittings are all original. There are a couple of pimples that serve to enhance its charm and authenticity in my opinion, rather than detract from what is a wonderful yet simple locket of quality. Dont let it get away!
