Oval faceted pale blue glass stones to represent pale sapphires and bright faceted cut clear paste glass stones make up this wonderful and wearable necklace. Circa mid/ later 1800s. DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT Necklace measures circumference – closed approx 15 inches, the central fixed pendant drops approx 2 inches. Weighs approx 33 grams. 15 oval clear Blue stones collet set and open backed for light dispersal. Clear paste stones are closed back & finely claw set. Fully articulated necklace with good working original and decorative matching box clasp. Lovely central fixed statement pendant. This necklace is so pretty and feminine- Lovely Old Cut open backed FIREY glass paste Stones that sparkle like pale sapphires & diamonds – all collet set into fine galleried settings. The clasp is a pretty feature too and the stones are decorated around the total length of the neck so a beautiful necklace from all angles & not just the front. It has a main statement centre drop too! The sparkling paste stones glisten and shimmer like real gems which is the reason why they were so favoured by the aristocracy of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This is all original set in solid silver which has been tested to confirm. (Unmarked as is usual for this period of jewellery). The drop of the paste pendant is 2 1/2 inches the spread is 1 1/4 inches. The total necklace measures around 16 inches around the neck with clasp closed.
