Antique solid silver clan brooch – 1887. Solid silver clan brooch with a lion to the centre holding a sword. And with the motto. Translated means = Robert better understanding. With makers mark F&M = Ferguson & Mcbean 1887 – 1893. I have only lightly cleaned this – the tip of the sword in the Lions paw stands proud on the brooch, this looks like it has come away from the main body of the brooch – please see photo’s.
