Here I have an antique double sided solid silver locket pendant. It features a beautiful aesthetic period design of a heron with a garden bird flying overhead, and if you look closely there’s a little butterfly in the reeds to the side. On the other side is a lovely spray of flowers (forget-me-nots I think) amongst swirled decoration, with a laurel wreath design around the edge. These double sided lockets were known as day and night lockets as you could turn it around when you changed your clothes for dinner in the evening. It has a large bale at the top, and i nside, it contains the original little frames to hold the photos in place and a past owners photos of a mother and small children. As with many antique pieces, it unmarked but tests as solid silver. The main body of the locket (without the bale at the top) measures 4.5cm high and 3.6cm wide. With the bale, it’s total length is 6.1cm. It weighs 31.7 grams. Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. Hinge and closure work perfectly. Just has the usual surface marks and tarnish to the silver which you’d expect on an antique item. International buyers PLEASE READ.
