A beautiful large octagonal shaped locket with an aesthetic movement design of an emu bird to the centre bending over to eat and a leaf pattern above. The locket comes complete with a large sterling silver chain from the same period. Hallmarks ; date letter d, lion and makers marks to locket. Weight ; 69.3 grams. Size ; 33mm x 51mm locket without loupe, 18 1/2 inch chain, 11mm wide. Condition ; Good for age. Locket with a crisp design. Original glass inserts though one is cracked. This delightful locket dates from around 1880 and is sterling silver, unmarked but tests very fine. It has gorgeous Aesthetic decoration to the front and a scrolling initials to the back. The chain is just over 17 inches, sterling silver too and the catch is strong. The locket is in very good condition and closes tightly. It measures 4cm (1 1/2 inch) across by 5cm down (2 inches) not including the bail and together with the chain weighs 28.8 g. All items come in a box to make an ideal gift!
