The locket comes complete with a large sterling silver chain from the same period. Hallmarks ; date letter d, lion and makers marks to locket. Weight ; 69.3 grams. Size ; 33mm x 51mm locket without loupe, 18 1/2 inch chain, 11mm wide. Condition ; Good for age. Locket with a crisp design. Original glass inserts though one is cracked. Here I have an antique French solid silver locket pendant. It’s decorated on the front and back with different beautiful floral Art Nouveau designs; with an empty cartouche for the engraving of initials on the front. The doors slide open and inside each door, there’s a bevelled mirror held in place by little removable silver frames. It’s lost its original bale but there’s a hole in the centre of the hinge which could be used to thread a chain or cord. It’s stamped with the French boar’s head silver hallmark on the hinge. The main body of the locket (without the hinge at the top) measures 5.7cm high and 4.3cm wide. With the hinge, it’s total length is 6.8cm. It weighs 36.6 grams. Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. No dinks or pressure marks. Just has the usual very light surface marks and tarnish to the silver which you’d expect on an antique item and one of the mirrors has a chip to one edge. The hinge works well and it closes nicely.
