Here I have an antique solid silver and enamel cone shaped locket or pill box pendant. It’s decorated with white Guilloche enamel not blue or grey as it seems in the photos! , with handpainted roses and leaves running around the edge. The lid hinges open and inside, the silver has been gilded to give the impression of solid gold. It’s hallmarked on the ring at the top, the numbers are a little tricky to make out, it’s either 800 or 900 grade silver and we believe it to be French in origin. This shape of locket is highly unusual, the first I have come across. The main body of the pendant (without the bale or loop at the top) measures 3.5cm high and 2.3cm wide. With the bale, it’s 4.2cm long. It weighs 10.1 grams. Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. There is one chip to the enamel which has taken away one of the roses on the top section but it’s only really noticeable on close inspection (illustrated with the pink arrow in the last photo). There are no other chips, cracks or damage to the enamel. The hinge and closure work perfectly and it snaps shut and stays closed. The gilding inside is very bright and clean; there are a few very small roman numerals that a past owner has scratched into both the top and bottom inside near the rim. Overall, it’s in lovely order.
