Here I have a fine Victorian Scottish Agate bracelet in the form of a belt. It features 3 agate panels, with engraved solid silver links between. It fastens with a large buckle clasp which is wonderfully design – you slide a little catch up which frees the tongue of the buckle and lets you slide it between two of the links. There’s also a little safety chain hook at the top, to keep the catch in place, which I think is probably a later addition. The end of the belt features a pair of engraved charm dangles and due to the nature of the clasp, it should fit most wrists. As with many antique pieces, it’s unmarked but tests as solid silver. Measures 9 inches (23cm) long, not including the charm dangles at the end, and 3.3cm wide across the buckle. The wearable length is between approx 6.5″ and 8.5″. It weighs 43.5 grams. Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. There’s a chip to one of the agates, illustrated in the last photo. Reinforcing strips of silver have been added to the back of all of the panels and one shows signs of gluing on the reverse. The silver is in lovely condition, with just the usual light surface marks which you’d expect on an antique item.
