An exceptional pair of solid silver earrings from the Fulani people of Mali W. I collected this pair back in the day when you could travel up country Mali to Mopti. They are the only pair of this size and weight I have ever seen. Perfect for a museum or collector. More tribal jewelry & beads in my store. Length – 55 mm (2 1/8). Outside width – 58 mm (2 1/4). Combined weight – 238.25 grams (8.4 oz). The Fulani or Peul are a traditionally nomadic people of traders and cattle herders who live throughout W. Many have now settled to a life of farming although some still continue to follow their most prized possessions (cattle) seasonally in search of pasture. The Fulani are very proud of their appearance and place great emphasis on their adornments. Thank you for looking at my auctions. Over the years I have built up a solid rapport with traders and clients. I travel 2-3 times per year to meet with traders who collect and save the items that you see here. My auctions at pangea40 only deal with original art that have been worn or used by the tribal groups mentioned in my description.
