Very Nice Antique Solid Sterling Silver. Late Victorian era circa 1880s. Oval locket & Book chain. A fine late Victorian era antique sterling silver locket & book link chain / collar. Sterilized polished & refinished in our workshops & is therefore in pristine antique condition The oval locket is hand engraved on both the front & rear panels decorated with flowers & foliage, highlighted with with cardoon decorated edges, very typical of the Victorian era & the locket style. The locket front has a vacant cartouche – ribon style. Suspended from the book chain with a large hinged oval bail, to which the original book chain is attached by the way of a large bolt ring. Rarely found today, (two links up) is another similar large bolt ring, fitted to easily adjust the collar length. The hinged locket opens & snap shuts freely. No damage & just re-gilded in 9ct gold by our working jeweller pristine antique condition (looks brand new). Only one side of the locket has a glass. Hard to believe this is the best part of 150 years old….. The locket & chain are not hallmarked but tested solid sterling silver Locket approximate diamentions.
