Antique Wide Victorian Solid Silver Hinged Cuff Bracelet Bangle Birmingham 1883. Please scroll down for lots more photos. An antique Victorian solid silver hinged bracelet by Robert James Dick, and with full English hallmarks for Birmingham 1883. The bracelet is of wide oval form with folded edges and hinges open via a simple leaf spring clasp. The front half of the bracelet has an incised chequered design with alternating patterns, a central bead & ring detail within raised castellated borders, and all enclosed within raised castellated edges surmounted by beading. One side of the interior carries the makers mark for Robert James Dick (who worked from Hylton St, Birmingham) and full English hallmarks for Birmingham 1883 – 84 (date letter i), whilst the other side carries the lion passant & date letter. Interior dimensions approx 2 1/4″ x 2″ at widest points (approx 5.8cm x 5.1cm). The bracelet is wide at approx 1 1/2″ to the front (inc beading) and 1 3/8″ wide at the rear, 41.3 grams. Good antique condition with no damage or restoration and just expected, but very light wear commensurate with age & use, a good hinge / closure, the only point to note is a small and very shallow bruise to the rear, unboxed.
